“Why Live When You Can Rule”
Something good happened to me yesterday. I got to watch (entirely) Kings of Summer, and while I can say that it is a love-or-hate type of movie, I found myself in the love-group. It was amazing, fun and refreshing. Something I did not really feel for a long time toward a movie.
First of course, the way of filming is pretty amazing and Jordan Vogt-Roberts does an amazing job at creating that particular atmosphere of evasion and nature, mixed together in a teenage-dream feeling. Now maybe the reason this movie spoke to me directly was because I used to swing sticks over my head and fight with trees, imaginary foes and friends in tropical forests for most of my youth.
Second, the soundtrack was amazing. Get your hands on it some way or another, because there is good music in it, including Youth Lagoon, and MGMT!
Finally, I have to admit that the actors were pretty good at it. Especially Nick Offerman as the father, and of course Moises Arias which did an amazing job as making Biaggio one of the most f*cked-up kids I have ever seen. This really gave an interesting humorous twist to the movie that makes it to the shelf of the to-watch-agains.
