[song] Sigur Ros – The Rains of Castamere

Being one of the most prominent alternative/progressive rock band of your time can give you many opportunities. You can for example be featured on the most prominent TV series of your time, and get money thrown to your face by your alleged King.

This is the dream-came-true of Icelandic band Sigur Ros which was cast on the episode 2 of season 4 of Game of Thrones. The song called “The Rain of Castamere” had been sung by The National in season 2, it this time interpreted by the Icelandic trio. The birth of a tradition? Let’s hope so!

It is a slow melancholic ballade that morns the fate of house Reyne obliterated by the house Lannister. And if you can’t feel any emotion to this grand song, make yourself a favour and please watch Game of Thrones again (and again and again and again).
